Descrición:: [Resumen] Emilia Pardo Bazán ha dejado constancia en sus relatos y novelas de la importancia de la costura como elemento fundamental en la educación de las mujeres de su tiempo. La costura se aprendía desde la niñez en el ámbito privado o en escuelas de menaje y garantizaba la calidad de futuro ángel del hogar de las alumnas. Las labores permitían a las mujeres ociosas entretenerse y a las más menesterosas, ganarse la vida o procurarse un ingreso extra. No obstante, Pardo Bazán, siempre preocupada por la formación femenina, advierte a través de su obra de ficción, acerca de las inquietudes intelectuales de muchas mujeres que no se ven satisfechas con las labores de aguja. La costura, de acuerdo con los textos de la autora, puede servir como elemento de sumisión femenina o como instrumento para forjarse cierta independencia. La costura se aprendía desde la niñez en el ámbito privado o en escuelas de menaje y garantizaba la calidad de futuro ángel del hogar de las alumnas. Las labores permitían a las mujeres ociosas entretenerse y a las más menesterosas, ganarse la vida o procurarse un ingreso extra. No obstante, Pardo Bazán, siempre preocupada por la formación femenina, advierte a través de su obra de ficción, acerca de las inquietudes intelectuales de muchas mujeres que no se ven satisfechas con las labores de aguja.
